One Month Birthday!

Adam you are one month old! I cannot believe it! On Wednesday I took you to the doctor's office to weigh you out of curiosity. Just as a refresher you were 8lb 10oz on Nov 28, your two week appointment. You were in the 50 percentile. Yesterday, two weeks later you were 10lb 9oz the 75 percentile! Can you believe it? Two pounds in two weeks. Mommy is so proud of my littler chunkster and so glad I am feeding you right - straight cream!

On Monday we got a Christmas tree because Dad was now home. Mom always insists on getting a real tree - what can she say? She's an Oregon girl

While Dad was gone mom gave you a few baths -- you screamed most of the time. But she got better and the last bath was just a mild quiver. Well Dad gave you a bath last night and you thrived!! We removed the mesh insert from the tub because you are oh so big now and Dad even gave you some soapy bubbles. Needless to say you dirtied the tub - twice - but you were really loving it!

Great Aunt Ketti also sent you a package yesterday - new burb cloths! Dad thought they were supposed to be used for a fort :)

This week you are sleeping much better - 9:30pm to 7:00am with two 20 minute feedings at 1:00 am and 4:00 am. Mom can handle that! Also, Dad showed you black and white shapes and you were fixated!! You also love to look at the black and white photos above the couch when we hold you.

We cannot believe it has already been a month. You've kept your hair - still not sure if it's blonde or light brown or hint of red. Your fingernails grow so fast I cut them almost every other day. You're sleeping in your crib now, and still love love love being held.

Thanks for completing our family

Three Weeks

This week dad was in Brazil, Columbia, and Mexico - which is why Mom didn't post - she was busy taking care of you :) We survived though. Lots of people came to visit and were helpful when the sick got clogged and the shower faucet would'nt turn off.

This week was all about working on sleeping and eating. You left the blissful sleeping all day stage and began to wake up often in the night...at 1am...2am....3am...4am...5am etc. But you began to be more alert this week which was really fun. I can't wait til you smile back and mom's silly faces.

Thanks to Vanessa, and the Baby Wise book we are working on feeding after waking up, then alert happy time, then down for a nap without having to nurse to fall asleep. We are also working on feeding times 2 1/2 to 3 hours apart. We are flexible, but that is our outline.

I learned how to crochet this week thanks to Jaclyn. I'm working on head warmers and they are so cute. I can even crochet while you are in my arms.

You also spent some time in your bouncer - and allowed mom to occasionally shower :)

We had a lot of fun Skyping with dad but can't wait til he's back!

Two Weeks

11.28.11

Adam you are two weeks old in these pictures. Dad loves to bathe you and you do such a great job now. At first you hated it but if the water's warm you're great.

11.28.11

Today was a big day for you and Mom. She took you to your two week appointment all by herself and boy your car seat is the heaviest thing she's lifted in a while. The big new of the day is you are 8 pounds 10 ounces!! The goals was 8 pounds 1 ounce so we know you're eating well!! You also grew one inch longer. You are in the 50% for weight and head circumference and 75% for length. Way to go!

Also, Mom and you went to the hospital for your third and final blood test. The pricked your heel (again!) and wrapped you up in this red bandage. You did awesome there too. You didn't cry at all! ... Until you got home and wanted FOOD!

Also, on Saturday your umbilical cord fell off. Your little outie belly button is looking great. Keep up the good work bud!

One Week

I am going to try to post a picture of Adam every week. I'm a little behind but I think this will be fun to post every Monday on Adam's progress.

One Week Old

11.21.11

Adam, today was our first day alone just Mom and son and we did great - got us both fed and me showered and even had a photo shoot. Kris Ryan came and took some photos of you and me and helped me learn how to best take baby photos. You did awesome! You were circumsized on Thursday and were really tough - didn't even cry after the shot. You weighed 7.7 on Thursday and the goal is for you to weigh your birth weight at your two week appointment. Hopefully Mommy's milk is good for you! :)

Thanksgiving with the Cooks!!

My dad is so sweet. My family lives in Oregon and the plan was for my mom to spend time when Adam was born and for my family to come for his blessing in January. However, once Adam was born he couldn't stand it. They decided to come for Thanksgiving!!

The boys and Lexus played football on Thanksgiving at a nearby park. Although it wasn't the FOUR football games Lincoln was supposed to play in, hopefully they had a good time :)

All of my siblings were enamored with Adam and would argue over who got to hold him. The family was here for 3 days and until the moment they left everyone wanted to hold him. I think he got a little spoiled :) Lincoln especially loved to hold him, or change him, or burp him. He might be going to school in Rexburg next year and Adam would love to see him Uncle Lincoln more. Bentley called Adam "lil Adam" all weekend. It was sweet.

My mom made an AMAZING thanksgiving dinner in my tiny kitchen :) She was awesome!! Thank you guys so much for coming out. I'm so glad you all got to see Adam and we got to spend the holiday together!

Derek and Adam

Derek is such an amazing daddy. He talks to Adam and is so funny! I can't wait til Adam understands his jokes :) Derek makes me laugh all the time and is good natured even when Adam pees and poops on him. Adam has pretty good aim - even hit the squirrel on the wall in the nursery haha.

Here are some pictures of my boys :)

Derek always does bathtime and tummy time with Adam. He is such a good daddy!!

Birth Story

Here's the story :)

Derek and I went in to be induced at 10:30pm on Sunday November 13. We got all set up and I was induced with a thinning agent at midnight and four am, then pitocin at 8am. The contractions weren't too bad until about 5 am when I finally woke Derek :) At 9:30am I asked for the epidural. I LOVED the epidural - it was perfect and not as painful as I expected and I relaxed immediately. At that point I was about a 4. Around 11am they checked me again and I was at a 10!! Can you believe it? Once the doctor got there and we got all set up and I was ready to push it was almost noon. I had him at 1:11pm after a bit of concern. There was a point where I wasn't making progress and the doctor considered an episiotomy or a vacuum. But then I did it! :) Adam's arm was by his head and his arm and head came out at the same time. I tore because of his arm there - he always has his arms by his head and his hand was by his head in the ultrasound too :)

The doctors then sewed me up and Derek watched Adam being taken care of. He was a healthy 8 pounds! The only issue was he wasn't getting enough oxygen to his blood. So they took him to the NICU to give him oxygen in high percentages and regulated how much oxygen was in his blood. They put him in an oxygen hood. We couldn't hold him but we were able to touch him and hold his hands. It was hard because I couldn't feed or hold him initially. Eventually they weaned him from 70-80% O2 to the 21% we have in our air. They did a chest xray and blood work. Although he was up and down that night by the morning he was steady and was released to us at 9am on the 15th. We did a little victory walk as we wheeled him into our room :)

Since then we have been doing great! He's feeding really well which was a concern because I didn't get to breastfeed him until 20 hours after he was born. In the NICU they gave him an IV for nutrients. He is also sleeping well and only waking up 2 or 3 times a night. We sure love our little boy and are so blessed to have him in our lives!!

Adam Steven Moss

He's here!

Family is doing so so well. Thank you to everyone for the meals, visits, gifts and support. Post of birth story to come :)

"So, have you had your baby yet?"

This is me on my due date - 11.11.11. It's now 11.13.11 and big announcement - no baby!

However, tonight is when we were supposed to get induced. Finally, a time that is definite and final...or not. I called at 5:00pm to see how busy they would be around 5:30 like my doctor said and they are swamped. It's baby-having time at the hospital! So they said they'd call when there was room. It's now 6:30pm and we are super prepared. Bags packed, bed ready for my mom, dishes done, house clean, laundry done. What else, oh yeah, pantry organized, Derek cleaned the outside of the fridge, the oven and the shower (not all today...it's been a long weekend). We are ready. I guess that's better than being unprepared :)

Here is Derek with all our hospital bags :)  Yes we need 5 bags - clothes in one, diaper bag, Derek's work bag with books etc, camera bag - we're set.

I have really appreciated everyone's good wishes although 11.11.11 was a tough day. I know I shouldn't have hoped so much for him to be born that day but I kind of did. Derek stayed home with me on Friday and took me out to breakfast. The waitress asked my due date..."oh, you know, today" :) We've been walking a TON and on Wednesday I even played a little tennis :) I've been enjoying any distractions. We went to the ISU volleyball games this weekend on Friday and Saturday night. People saw me at church today and were surprised I was there. I've been having moderate contractions at night but nothing that has kept me from normal activity. I hope the induction goes smoothly and I'm not in labor forever. I hope that all these warm up contractions are good for something :)

I'll leave with the funnest comment asked of me today:

"So, have you had your baby yet?" ... "No" (as I look down at my belly - not so much) "not yet" :)

I promise next post will have some of baby Adam - we can't wait!

39.5 Weeks

Wow I look bigger than I think I am :)

We're still just a waitin'...

Only 4 more days til my due date. If I haven't had him this week we'll induce at the beginning of next week (14th/15th). I've been feeling pretty good. Occasional cramping and painful Braxton Hicks still but no consistency.

Oh and it snowed! It's officially November. But I am so grateful it didn't snow until after Halloween. We had a beautiful fall!

10.27.2011

When is he coming?

With only two more weeks until my due date Derek and I are counting down the days (15) and wondering when our precious boy is going to come. We're ready, we're waiting. And maybe to help pass the time, does anyone have any guesses??

Date, time, weight, length

I've been having some contractions but nothing substantial or consistent. Shout out a guess!

(sorry no prize, just fun :)

Pumpkins and Leaves

I love autumn time! The leaves are turning and it's so beautiful. Derek and I decorated pumpkins with spray paint and leaves. Super simple and fun :)

Look at all the leaves around my car. I am savoring these last few moments of dry leaves without rain or snow. I love this weather!

My birthday

I'm 24 ... :)

Derek spoiled me by making all the meals over the weekend and we went to an ISU volleyball game. My mom gave me a Cricket paper cutting machine and I love it already!! Derek gave me some scrapbook paper and accessories for the Cricket. And tomorrow I get to have a pedicure!

Here is a picture on my birthday - about 35 weeks.

We went to Burley this weekend and celebrated Kara, my and Lauren's birthday. Steve made us a autumn cake - so pretty! :)

I love this picture of all of us blowing our cake - and Steve with his mouth open too :)

And sweet Derek playing with our neice Lindzey. She is walking and so so cute!

I love autumn and the beautiful tree leaves. It's such a fun time to put on a sweater but still enjoy warm walking weather.

Update on Adam: He is HEAD DOWN!! :) So happy. I felt that he was but it was confirmed at my appointment yesterday. Also, I'm still measuring great - 36 cm at my 36 week appointment. And I'm not dilated but that's normal. I have a feeling he'll be coming around 11.11.11 :) We are so excited for his arrival. We've even put the car seat in the car. 23 more days til I'm due!

Nursery

I keep meaning to post pictures of the nursery so far but it's not done. But it's pretty close and I don't know when I will feel it is "done". So here you go:

This is our beloved tree sticker :) 110 stickers up on that wall. We love it!

There is an owl sticker coming out of the window. It's kind of cluttered still with our high chair, bouncer, humidifier etc. Isn't the owl humidifier cute?

 My glider :) so comfortable

I made this nursing cover! :) yes I know. I'm so crafty (not really, pretty easy but I'm super proud of it none the less). It's cute, not quite boy - ish but it's going to be on me :) It has boning to peek down on my baby and a velcro strap to adjust.

My diaper bag. It's funny the things Derek insisted on and he wanted to get me a Timbuk2 bag. I love it. Lots of pockets and I can wipe it all down. Velcro and snaps and it will go across my chest messenger style.

And I love my Boppy pillow my good friend Makall gave me. So cute! Going with the nature theme.

That's it so far. Getting the bedding and changing pad soon and then we'll be set. All just a matter of where to put everything.

Oh, I also have my three wheeled jogging stroller and carseat and the carseat cover I made :) Thanks to my friend Vanessa and her sewing machine!
