ISU Homecoming Bonfire
Derek and I went to the Homecoming bonfire at Bartz field. It was a very very large fire once it got going. We watched from our car for a while, but then got closer.

Here is a close up of us next to the fire - you can see it's super hot!
These poor cones melted!!!

Sunday Birthday Celebration with Steve and Daralyn
A few views of my cake that Steven made for me. I asked for a volcano and boy did I get one. I was so impressed!! It even has lava flowing down it! Thank you!!!

When I blow out my candles the top of the volcano exploded with a popper! Derek also put his mom up to putting silly string all over his dad (which normally Steve would be the one to initiate so we beat him to it)! So funny!
Steve, me and Daralyn laughing so hard after the silly string event.
This was the inside of the cake - after it was popped!
It was a great Sunday. Derek made pupusas which were delicious! Thanks everyone!!

Pictures of our home
Alright so I have finally posted some pictures of our home! Here is what we look out our family room window at - this beautiful tree with fall changing leaves!
This is a shot looking at our apartments. We are the one on the top right - G4!

And of course, here's a shot of Derek's scooter :) That baby is saving us lots of gas money as Derek takes it to work!
Here is a shot of our bikes. We lock them to our balcony which works great but we're not sure what we're going to do with them in the winter yet. Mine is the red one and Derek's is black.

This is the inside. And specifically our previously bright blue couch. We have a pretty brown couch cover now and awesome brown, green and white pillows. This is also a picture of our desk area and our (now white) beautiful walls and decor.

This is the bathroom - it's like a hotel because you have the sink on the outside and toilet and shower on the inside

This is a nook in our bedroom where we could study but have decided to just decorate. You can also see our bed and my dresser to the right.

Here is our hallway so you get the whole perspective. The bedroom is to the left and you can see the couch. Walking down the hall and to the right is the kitchen (which I still need to take pictures of).

Snow in October??
It's snowing here in lil ol pocatello.....we woke up this beautiful saturday morning all rested and I get up to the window and say "Derek, it's snowing". And of course he doesn't believe me because he tries to trick me with that statement all the time. But lo and behold... it was! And to think we just went on a bike ride LAST night!

new adventure
Derek and I finally had a real test of our bikes today at the City Creek trail. It was beautiful....but pretty intense and scary to me. I liked it once I was back in the car and safe :) Derek was a great teacher and helped me learn that when I go down hills to stand a little and have my feet on the pedals so they are flat. I know I'll get better as we keep riding!

Conference!
We love conference around here! And the past three conferences we have stayed at Aunt Linda and Uncle Shane's home. We love going there but we've been pretty busy the last couple weekends and felt it was best for us to just stay home this time.

We have also gone and seen Conference many times as a couple. When I lived in Provo it was a great reason for Derek to visit. However, we look forward to it being just the two of us this year and hearing our prophet's words.
The Illiterate
By William Meredith
"Touching your goodness I am like a man
Who turns over a letter in his hand
And you might think this was because the hand
Was unfamiliar but, truth is, the man
Has never had a letter from anyone;
And now he is both afriad of what it means
And ashamed, because he has no other means
To find out what it says that to ask someone.
His uncle could have left the farm to him.
Or his parents died before he sent them word.
Or the dark girl changed, and want him for beloved.
Afraid, and letter-proud, he keeps it with him.
What would you call the feeling for the words
That keep him rich, and orphaned, and beloved."
This is the poem I memorized and recited in my English 211 class. I thought you all might enjoy it as I did. Or maybe I'm just an English nerd now.

Callings
Derek and I received callings in our wonderful Married Student Ward. He is the financial clerk in our ward and I am the second councilor in Relief Society. I feel so blessed to work with Leisha, Erica and Tonya and look forward to a great semester!!
In Recent News...

Ok did I seriously not post in all of September? I am so awful. However, my sweet husband has done all the research and, along with my parents, is getting me a digital camera for my birthday - and it is really sweet!
I think it looks like this - we'll see in one week and one day! And then I'll repent and put lots of fun pictures all the time (well that's the goal).
This last weekend we went to Burley for Kara's birthday and had tons of fun! And tonight we're going to a banquet for Derek's work --- potential job offer connections we hope. Earlier this week though we think Derek got food poisoning or just a 24 flu because he was NOT feeling well. Fortunately he's doing better now. And I'm started to get a cold.....again. I just got one like 2 1/2 weeks ago. Ergh...
However, I have had lots of tests and papers recently in Spanish, both Englishes and Chemistry and let's just say, ladies and gentlemen, that I have received A's on all of them! Wahoo!!!
Also: BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: (I can't believe I didn't mention this earlier) DEREK WAS ACCEPTED INTO THE FELLOWS!!!!
It is the top 1% of the college of business and they are chosen by grades, leadership and attitude. This will open even more doors for potential job offers. Derek, I love you so much and am so so proud of you!!!
