"So, have you had your baby yet?"
This is me on my due date - 11.11.11. It's now 11.13.11 and big announcement - no baby!
However, tonight is when we were supposed to get induced. Finally, a time that is definite and final...or not. I called at 5:00pm to see how busy they would be around 5:30 like my doctor said and they are swamped. It's baby-having time at the hospital! So they said they'd call when there was room. It's now 6:30pm and we are super prepared. Bags packed, bed ready for my mom, dishes done, house clean, laundry done. What else, oh yeah, pantry organized, Derek cleaned the outside of the fridge, the oven and the shower (not all today...it's been a long weekend). We are ready. I guess that's better than being unprepared :)
Here is Derek with all our hospital bags :) Yes we need 5 bags - clothes in one, diaper bag, Derek's work bag with books etc, camera bag - we're set.
I have really appreciated everyone's good wishes although 11.11.11 was a tough day. I know I shouldn't have hoped so much for him to be born that day but I kind of did. Derek stayed home with me on Friday and took me out to breakfast. The waitress asked my due date..."oh, you know, today" :) We've been walking a TON and on Wednesday I even played a little tennis :) I've been enjoying any distractions. We went to the ISU volleyball games this weekend on Friday and Saturday night. People saw me at church today and were surprised I was there. I've been having moderate contractions at night but nothing that has kept me from normal activity. I hope the induction goes smoothly and I'm not in labor forever. I hope that all these warm up contractions are good for something :)
I'll leave with the funnest comment asked of me today:
"So, have you had your baby yet?" ... "No" (as I look down at my belly - not so much) "not yet" :)
I promise next post will have some of baby Adam - we can't wait!

Hey I know how that goes (Lily was 4 days late, but she did come on 11/11/10 (she is one!). I was think about you on her birthday wondering if our kids would share their birthdays...I guess not. Hang in there! You can always try caster oil...Good luck!

Good luck and we wish you the best!!! Excited to hear how it all goes.
Shelby, I just want to say thanks for this post. I'm 38 weeks pregnant and therefore "waiting" as well. I appreciate your honesty about how hard Friday was. Sam was due on Christmas Eve and I had convinced myself that he'd be at least a day or two early. When my due date rolled around I cried all day long because I knew that my dream of being home as a little family for Christmas was not going to happen. But I got over it- eventually, that is!
I hope all goes well for you!
