Hagerman Fish Hatcheries

Derek and I went to Hagerman, Idaho. They have a lot of fish hatcheries there where they raise TONS of little fishes to repopulate what was lost in the states of Oregon, Washington and Idaho when making dams. We also went to the National Fossil Park with the famous Hagerman Horse. Millions of years ago there was a Lake Idaho and it attracted lots of animals. Throughout the years they either became extinct (the mastadon), adapted, or migrated (horses). They have recovered over 30 complete horse fossils which prove that there were horses in North America before the Spaniards brought horses over in the 1500s. We didn't get any pictures but I thought it was pretty cool.

Here we are inside a fish hatchery where there are millions of little fishes in each of these tanks. We hit them at feeding time.

Here is a sturgeon. Very LARGE fish. I should have taken a picture to show you the scale but there were about four feet long probably.

Here you can see Derek pointing at a sturgeon - a little better for scale.

A pond that had an underwater viewing area.

This is at a scenic picnic area outside a fish research facility. Very pretty place

This is where they keep the larger fish

Saying goodbye to the hatcheries. Just another fun weekend trip. I love the trips Derek and I are able to go on. What a wonderful fun summer! This weekend we head to Burley again for a family reunion. The weekend after that Derek's brother Jarrad is blessing his baby in Utah. Then that next week I am going to Oregon for my cousin Cameron's wedding and my Grammy's 80th birthday celebration. Then on August 23rd school starts. Man this summer has flew by!
