Today was the Open House for Dental Hygiene and it went as good as I thought it could have went. I found out that it is 70% grades and 15% reasoning activity and 15% carving activity.
The reasoning activity was a 50 minute 33 question test with questions ranging from "If person A is ranked higher than person D and lower than person E, in what circumstances would person B be ranking lower than person A ... etc" to questions about health occupation situations and what a person did about negligence or confidentiality or family health decisions. I answered all the questions and felt pretty good and was able to go back and check them in time.
The dexterity test was what I feared. However, the chalk was great to work with and our knives were suitable as well. I tried to follow the specifications exactly but my chalk was only 3" long instead of 3 1/4" when I got it so I had to make some adjustments. We had to round the end, make the other end like a pencil with four blunt ends (and the tip had to be 3/8") and make a cut-out in the middle 3/4" long and 1/4" deep. They were testing smoothness, how close to the measurements we were, sharpness of angles and symmetry.
I feel good about my grades (3.78 overall). We were ranked on a scale out of 100 (possible to get 102/103) and my score was 97.588. That includes weighting different classes (sciences) more heavily, no withdrawals, only one class taken over again, etc.
We should know by April 1 and then I will know what the next two years hold for us!!
Derek was fantastic. He gave me a massage last night and breakfast this morning and came for the 1 1/2 hour orientation at the beginning of the day. He asked a few questions including "How can I, as the support team, be the best support to my wife?" The answers were listen to her, make dinner and help with dishes, and be her patient. He is such an excellent husband and I am so grateful for his support and pep talks!!!
Thanks for the support everyone, I really appreciate it. Many of you sent me text messages and called me and that really helped!

Darling blog. Looks like you are doing very well. I don't know if I ever emailed you an invite to our blog after we went private in December. Your mom mentioned I should invite you and I sent one to her, but if I somehow missed you, let me know. My email is stannic1006@aol.com.
No problem! I didn't mind having my blog open to the world, until I had Cade. I didn't care if people saw us. Then I became mother bear and was protective of creepos seeing my baby. My husband watches WAY too many Dateline episodes. It has made me way too paraniod! :)
Don't have much time to respond...but Looks like things are going well...I will totally make you something and yes that means you have to make something too. But who's to say it isn't sending me leftovers from last sunday's dinner. Did you read the small print. It says "No one has to like it" lol
